The wall enclosing the Tabernacle consisted of a high wall made of
white linen curtains hanging upon 60 pillars. These pillars were
probably made of acacia wood, and stood more than 5 cubits (7.5 feet) high.
The base of each pillar stood in a brass socket, and each pillar
was held upright by cords
(Exodus 35:18)
fastened to hooks near the top of the pillar and brass tent pegs
(Exodus 27:19)
driven into the ground, both inside and outside the court.
The pillars were connected together with silver rods,
forming a continuous framework around the Tabernacle.
