The pillars for the door to the Holy Place were made from acacia wood overlaid
with gold. There were golden hooks near the top for the door to hang upon. Gold
represents divinity and wood represents humanity. Acacia wood overlaid with gold
therefore speaks of Christ - He is both God and man, divine and human, Son of
God and son of man. The pillars were set in sockets of bronze, again reminding
us of God's judgement against sin and disobedience. These pillars, set on the
ground in sockets of bronze, but reached to the very top in gold - they speak of
Christ humbled Himself to bear God's judgement for us, therefore God highly
exalted Him above everything so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow
and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians
2:6-11).
